So what’s the appeal? What’s so great about the bang?

I think the bangs define the face;  they are able to frame the shape of your visage – by bringing attention to the eyes and those lucky enough – highlight the high cheek bones. They can help hide imperfections – wrinkles or scars. Most importantly, I believe, they set the tone for a strong and elegant facade…

Now let’s take a look back at our inspirations…

 This style goes back centuries. Ancient Egyptians have donned this design more than 2000 B.C.E. (that’s more than 4,000 years ago) as is evidenced by this wig (which is displayed at the Met Museum) and was probably worn by female member of the royal family.

Then there is the infamous Cleopatra, who  have been shown to wear this style more than 2,000 years ago. This coin was made and distributed during her life time and depicts her daily wear.

In the modern culture,  Elizabeth Taylor’s interpretation of  Cleopatra has set of frenzy of copy cats every Halloween.

The highly stylized wigs have inspired many   …   

Then there’s Louise Brooks’  bob; with highly stylized bangs – she is as chic and current today as she was in 1920’s. She was a show girl and a silent film actress – she was a star in her  prime  bet. 1920’s – 1930’s. Louise became a fashion icon at the time when most women still wore long, braided hair. She was trailblazer for many to come…

As for Anna Wintour, who is Vogue’s editor-in-chief, who came into recent spotlight thanks to The Devil Wears Prada,  is as much famous for her quiet, cool stare at the runway shows as she is infamous for  her well coiffed  hairdo, which inspires classic chic & elegance.

But  a few decades ago she was a just another  fresh faced girl with a long, full bags. It appears she found something that she liked and made it work for her.  So if you find your particular style niche –  keep it.  It can always be updated, to keep up the ongoing trends.

Wintours’ youthful style perhaps inspired another  styled beauty. The cut is very similar to recent hairdo of the future Mrs. Justin Timberlake.  Jessica Biel often appears on  ‘Top 10 Bodies’ , however, currently she is noted for her hair.
